If you want to learn how to monetize your website, wouldn’t it be great if someone could give you a list of websites with revenue data, info on how the sites make money, the niche it’s in, and more?
Imagine if you could find out:
- The name and URL of the website so you can check it out
- How much money the website is earning month by month
- How the website is generating revenue e.g. through Amazon Associates, other affiliate program platforms like Impact Radius or Clickbank, ad networks such as MediaVine or Ezoic, or sponsorship, or through selling their own digital products
- How long the site has been operating for
- How many articles the site has published on their site
- The domain authority of the site
- Website traffic over time
- Their top-performing posts and keywords and how much traffic these get
- If they have any social accounts, email lists, and the number of followers and subscribers for these
- Tips from the seller on how to grow the site after you’ve bought it
Well, you can, by looking at listings on website marketplaces. Website marketplaces are similar to the eBay model. Websites can be bought and sold with various features and statistics of the website listed, to aid in the purchasing decision.
Two sites I like to look at for inspiration are:
Motion Invest
This site was cofounded by Spencer Haws of the prominent and popular site and podcast Niche Pursuits. The sites listed have to pass the Motion Invest due diligence process before they’re listed on the marketplace.
Flippa
This marketplace was founded in 2009 and has sold over 300k digital assets to date. Each listing has a verified listing banner displaying the vetted and data-verified icons the site has received. The Market Insights graph shows you similar listings for sale and sold in relation to the listing you’re looking at.
So looking at listings in your niche and other categories can give you ideas and inspiration on ways to monetize and scale your website.
