I build content sites and one of the main ways I monetize my sites is by earning affiliate commissions from blog posts. I really like the way sites like Wirecutter and This Is Why I’m Broke write and format their product round-up reviews and gift guides.
Lasso is an all-in-one affiliate marketing WordPress plugin and platform that helps you create these great-looking posts and is also designed to convert and increase your affiliate revenue.

I wanted to start adding more of these types of product posts onto one of my sites Lifestyleroll.com.
My Objectives
I want to create useful and interesting product information round-up and gift guide posts that look great, convert well, and are quick to put together.
I also wanted the price of the Amazon products to be displayed directly on my blog post, for convenience and to provide a better user and customer experience for my readers.
So I researched possible apps that could meet my criteria, and I came across Lasso, an all-in-one affiliate marketing platform. I went through the site’s material and knew that this was what I was looking for.
Top 4 Things I Like About Lasso
So here are the top 4 things I love about Lasso so far:
1. Great Looking Product Displays Designed to Convert
The product displays simply look great and the displays have been specifically designed to convert better. “They’ve been A/B tested against millions of visits and millions in revenue.” The founder of Lasso Andrew Fiebert has spent over 10 years building affiliate sites so he knows what features are needed to make Lasso the best affiliate marketing app.
I love the Badge Text label in the top left corner of the display box. You can use it to highlight the product as ‘Our Pick’ or ‘Best Budget Buy’ for example. The badge, border, buttons, title, pros and cons colors can all be changed to suit your company’s brand colors.
There are 8 well-designed display box options to choose from. The one I’ve chosen for this Wordle Gifts Article is the ‘Cutter’ Display theme, which features a nice-looking border and has the product image on the left, the title of the product underlined, a description section, and a Buy Bottom under that.
There are also 8 Display Type options. These include a Grid and Table Display format. These are great for showing Summary Product Comparisons side-by-side.
2. Amazon Integration
I wanted the price of the products to be displayed in the actual blog post, rather than needing the potential customer to click on a general ‘Buy from Amazon’ button and then be redirected to the Amazon product page before they could see the price. I feel it’s a much better customer experience to be able to just see all the prices for all the products on your page without needing to click back and forth between your blog post and to Amazon or another retailer’s site to see the price for each product the customer is interested in.
Lasso solves this problem as it enables you to automatically pull in Amazon product images, titles, and prices for your product displays on your blog posts without you needing to get your own Amazon API keys and credits. (This is a great feature for those who have just applied to join the Amazon Associates program as well, since Amazon Associates don’t allow you to add the Amazon Product Advertising API keys to your site until you’ve been accepted to join their program).
You can also have the Amazon Prime label display automatically on the Amazon Prime products you feature.
3. Fast and Efficient Workflow
As a solopreneur, I’m always looking for ways to do things more quickly and efficiently wherever I can. If I can save even 2-3 minutes per product I include in a product blog post, I end up saving an hour or more of time on just one blog post that features 30+ products. This time saving adds up pretty quickly. So I personally feel that it’s worth spending a bit of money to use the app, if you can afford it.
GetLasso has an article outlining 3 easy ways to add Amazon affiliate links to your WordPress site. I use method #1 which is using the Lasso plugin. The way I add products is outlined below.
This Lasso plugin method involves just 6 super simple steps.
Step 1: Log into your Amazon Associates SiteStripe account, search for the product you want to add, then click ‘Text’ and copy the highlighted shortlink.
Step 2: Go to your Lasso dashboard on your WordPress site and click the ‘Add New Link’ button in the top right corner.
The ‘Add a New Link’ pop-up box appears. Paste in your Amazon product shortlink into the box.
Step 3: Lasso will create a record of the Amazon product you added along with the image, title, pricing, and other information. You can then start customizing the details like renaming the Name of the product title as I’ve done here, changing the Display Theme, Badge Text, add a Product Description, and more. Then save your changes.
Step 4: Create a new blog post or open an existing blog post and insert a Lasso block (the Cactus icon).
Step 5: Choose a Display Type. I’ve chosen the Single Display for this example.
Step 6: Click the ‘Add’ button of the product you want to add to your blog post.
The product display will appear on your blog post. You can then make further Edits to your product display if you like.
You can also create side-by-side product comparisons in the form of a table or a grid too if you like. Lasso has a number of display formats available.
4. Great Technical Support and Customizations
Even though the displays looked awesome out of the box, I still wanted a few customizations. Lasso has a Shortcode Reference Guide you can reference to customize the displays further. You can also design your own custom Lasso displays with CSS code. But if you’re like me and coding is not in your skill-set then you can submit your customization requests to the Lasso technical support team and they’ll help you out (if you take an annual subscription of Lasso).
Other Great Features of Lasso
I’ve only just scratched the surface of what Lasso does. The founder Andrew Fiebert wrote an article outlining the 7 reasons why Lasso is the Best Affiliate Marketing Plugin for WordPress, which is worth checking out.
Try Lasso Lite for Free
For those who want to test the waters and get a feel of how Lasso works first, there’s a Lasso Lite plugin (also known as Simple URLs) you can download and use for free to see. That way you can see how it works and see if Lasso is a good fit for your content affiliate sites.
