Is it worth starting a blog in 2024? Or if you already have one, is it still worth putting your time and resources into writing more articles and trying to scale it?
The answer comes down to your reasons for having a blog. It might be important to you to have a site/platform that you own so that you can design the site with your branding, functionality, and content the way you want it. rather than be constrained by 3rd party platforms’ rules, design, and ongoing algorithm changes.
There are many platforms you can publish your articles on including Medium and LinkedIn, and there are platforms you can market your services and visual/video content on depending on your niche like YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, X, TikTok, and Meta. You can also publish your own newsletter as well.
You can of course go on more than one platform. It all depends on your business and personal goals and determining which platform/s best aligns with your goals, skillsets, and resources.
I like blogging as it aligns with one of my goals which is to build and monetize content affiliate sites.
There are over 600 million blogs online, so blogs are still a very popular asset/channel. So should you invest your time and energy into starting or maintaining a blog or should you not bother?

You can also create free and paid online courses on platforms such as Teachable, Mighty Networks or Udemy and link to these from your website. This can also lead to an extra side income or eventually even replace your full-time income.

Publishing in-depth, authoritative content about your specific area of focus, experience, education or passion on a consistent basis has a powerful impact on how you are perceived both by casual visitors as well as industry peers. In essence, it showcases your subject matter mastery and expertise to the world.
While simply creating content doesn’t automatically make you an expert, well-researched blogging on a niche topic over many months or years certainly helps cement that status. This can pay dividends including being asked onto prominent podcasts, being offered book publishing deals, and high-paid consulting opportunities.
