I want to write and publish a lot more quickly and consistently on my content affiliate sites. But sometimes I just don’t know what I want to write that day, and staring at the blank screen doesn’t help.
I recently enrolled in the Ship 30 for 30 writing cohort/course (fantastic course btw) as I wanted to come up with endless ideas, write and publish a lot more, and improve my writing.
A tool the Course Captains Dickie Bush and Nicolas Cole got us all onto straight away was Typeshare. It’s a game-changer as it just gets you writing even if you have no ideas of what to write. Plus you end up writing a 250-word atomic essay in no time at all.
How?
By selecting an atomic essay template.
You can just scroll through the grid view of the templates and simply pick a topic template you feel like writing right now.
On one of the writing course days, I chose the following template, since I love learning from YouTube videos. So it was an easy topic template for me to write to.
You can see my atomic essay titled: If You’re Interested in Learning How to Build Content Affiliate Websites, Subscribe to These 3 YouTube Channels over at my Typeshare social blog here.
Day 18: If You’re Interested In Learning {Skill}, Subscribe To These 3 YouTube Channels
Learning {Skill} is hard.
Luckily, everything you need to know to get started, become proficient, and even get hired as a {Outcome}, you have access to online — for free.
Just subscribe to these 3 YouTube channels:
{YouTube Channel 1}
{Explain why}
{YouTube Channel 2}
{Explain why}
{YouTube Channel 3}
{Explain why}
So, save yourself {$X} studying {Skill} in college and just binge these YouTube channels.
So as you can see, filling in a topic template makes it very easy to just launch straight into the process of writing. There’s no longer the overwhelm of facing a fresh blank screen. Plus the structure and outline of the essay are already laid out for you to fill in.
The templates enabled me to just start filling in the blanks with my content. I would then have my first draft finished in no time at all. I’d then edit the template to suit the content and flow of what I wanted to write.
I’d often find myself continuing to write beyond 250 words, to 500 and 1000 words.
It has also got me into the practice of outlining my own essays automatically now too, making them a lot quicker to write up.
I ended up writing 17 essays in 30 days of the Ship 30 for 30 January cohort/course. This is a lot more than the 11 articles I wrote and published over 2 years on Medium. I love frictionless writing. If only I had known about this tool or a similar system much earlier!
Other great features I haven’t even delved into in this article include:
- Templates for writing a Tweet/Thread, a LinkedIn Post, or a Medium Story
- You can publish the atomic essay as a visually cool-looking image on Twitter
- You can crosspost the atomic essay to Medium and LinkedIn at the same time
- You can schedule your posts to publish at a time you nominate
- You can track your analytics including engagement rate, views, likes and shares
Typeshare has also just shipped a major update of their web app, so if you wanted to try it out, this would be a great time to do so.
